Lent

The word 'Lent' comes fromthe Anglo Saxon word meaning Spring or Springtime. Lent is a very special time in church year and lasts for forty days, just like Jesus spent in the wilderness where he went to fast and pray. The Sundays in Lent are not counted in the 40 days because they are always a day of worship. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and will end 40 days later on Holy Thursday, which is sometimes called Maundy Thursday. Above all, Lent is the time we spend preparing ourselves for Easter.
