Some Chemicals May Bite!

From Soap!

On Monday the 8th, Year Six Experimented on a interesting test...

We used red cabbage water as an indicator, to identify which solutions were acids, alkalis or neutral.

Gosh! A lot of posts are about science! I'd better stop writing about science in our school! There I go again...

SCIENCE EXPLOSION

Click > Play to see the slideshow.
To view larger images please visit our Google Gallery

The school have been having endless amount of fun from the 9Th till the 14Th of March with SCIENCE WEEK. The Year 6 have been using their fab knowledge to contrast their knowledge of Science and English together to create a magazine. Each classes in Year 6 needed to include different types of genres in their magazine so that it would be interesting and also exciting. Both classes were separated into different groups, each of the groups had in their team an editor,a sub-editor and some writers. Most of the magazines included instructions to make a paper plane which relates to what Year 6 have been doing as their science investigation. These magazines include pictures in them to show what the children been doing throughout the week. If you are soooooooooo interested ,click the play button to view our short video to see some.

6K Artwork

6K have been painting in the style of Bo Newell recently and I am pleased to present a display of their work on our Google Gallery. This beautiful piece of work below has been painted by one of our pupils, T.O. Here is what she had to say about it -

"I found the perspective on the tree the hardest [to do], then easiest [was] the plant (on the side) because I have a tree in my garden like it. First of all I never thought I could do it, I wasn't the best artist in the class. When I was finished I was AMAZED I had done it! I was proud of myself."

The Good Old Days

As always, one of the highlights at the end of the academic year is the good old musical extravaganza. In this case entitled, "The Good Old Days"! Parents were treated to rousing numbers performed by Year 6, complete in their Victorian costumes, and heartily sang to the pleasure of all. (I'm starting to sound like Mr C). Listen below to some of the rehearsal takes (mp3) as a reminder of a great evening.

Credits to: Mrs Sefton (pianoforte), Mr Clowes (director/performer), Mr Place (approval and all round bonhomie) and the entire Year 6, who worked extremely hard to perfect their performances.

Time For A Story

Our Year 6 group have recently been practising the very important (and difficult) art of written storytelling. It seems very easy to open a book and read a great story but, as Year 6 found out, it takes a little bit more than just writing down the first thing that comes into your head! Character, plot, pace and style all play their part and so we would like to offer you some of the best of their work, available to view on the link below.

There are three short stories to read: 'The Man Who Thought He Had Survived', 'Scared To Death', and 'L.A.' - and they are well worth a read...
