Being in Year 6

I find y6 harder than y5 because you have to do tests!

TESTS ARE DONE!!!!!!

We have just finished our optional tests! Our teacher Mr Clowes was very very pleased with my classes levels. I was especially pleased because I got a 5A in reading and writing and a 5B in maths. 5A is the highest you can get in your SATS. All my friends did very well, as well. The only tests we have are our SATS, which seem very scary.

Art And More.

Hello again. It's me Piggy, we've been doing cool stuff in art, we have been doing collage and working on the artist Hazel Reed, when I say collage I mean we have been doing it with fabric and we make a collage of the Scottish Isles. In science we've been doing micro-organisms and we learnt that there are helpful and harmful organisms. We also learnt that harmful microrganisms can cause salmonella and even flu. In English (literacy) we've just been doing revision same in maths.

New year and good stuff! By the Disco Divas!

It has been very good in year 6 I am enjoying it a lot and it has been very fun.
In art we are learning about Hazel Reed and she is very good at art.
We have had two Spanish tests which were very hard.

New things! by the Disco Divas

We have been in year 6 for quite a few weeks now and we are learning lots of new things like Spanish, how to do Scottish landscapes by Hazel Reed, learning how to work with water colours in Art, how to do flashbacks in English with our story writing and picking up lots of new skills in English, ICT Science and just all our lessons really. Also we are enjoying it very much because we will be going to Norfolk in June and i am sure that lots of other new trips will crop up so we are very pleased and excited about that.

A great week in Yr 6

We are a while into our year in Mr Clowes' class, we have done impact lines in English and have even written our own mystery story. In art we are creating our own pictures based on Hazel Reed, a Scottish artist who bases her art on the Scottish landscapes, so far we have done wax crayons, water colours and collages all based on Hazel Reed our next step is creating the same picture using different bits of fabrics. We have done Spanish in M.F.L.
Next week is our class assembly, it is scary because we don't know our parts yet!
We are looking forward to our residential trip to Norfolk in 2010! : )

From Australia

Notes from old friends... Mr Place

Hello to all back at St. Gregory's.

It's hard to believe that at this time last year I was teaching the fabulous children in St. Nicholas' Class. So much has happened since then, starting a new life here in Karratha, Western Australia.

I have nothing but happy memories of my time at St Gregory's. My first contact with the school was when I spent time there as a volunteer, followed by my role as an LSA with Ms Keating and finally to return as a teacher working alongside the legend that is Stephen Clowes.

I had some fantastic experiences whilst at the school, working with an enthusiastic group of children and such a dedicated team of staff was a pleasure. Memories of residential trips to Norfolk will never leave me, hard work but a laugh a minute!

Best wishes to all at St Gregory's for the future.

Mr Place

CAITLIN BEHAN

Hi St.gregs , this is Caitlin Behan, from old y6. Well done on your sats I just wanted to do a post to say what it is like at Secondary School!

To start with you feel really small and and lonely, but then you realize everyone around you is feeling the same!

You make friends really easily, and you don't really feel like this is real, and then before you know it, it is sports day or the end of the year, and you see the new Y7s and you think, "that was me last time !"

Our Project On Soap

Year 6 have been trying to market a soap.

We are focusing on our presentation and TV advert.

The best in 6c so far is Rhino, Fromasabelle, Heaven and Titanic.

View images of our work here.

Advertising Soap!

On June the second year six was set with a task of making the soap a product to advertise in posters, leaflets, adverts and on the radio.

There were 8 groups in Mr C's class, there was Heaven, Rhino, Titanic, Fromasabelle, simply Fragrance, Shooting stars brave tiger soap and Olympic.

The age varied witin the groups but all the slogans were very good, here is just a few of them.

Titanic: the titanic may have sunk, but this won't let you down!

Blue Peter's Partner

This is Christyna Lynch.

Blue Peter had given a girl called Christyna Lynch, two blue peter badges the first one was the type that you see the presenters wearing and the second one is the silver Blue peter badge and this is how you could get one your self ...

All YOU need to do to become a BLUE PETER PARTNER YOUR SELF is make something like a picture or send them a letter about something you did and they send you a blue peter badge, a pass with a unique number, a letter and a booklet that shows you where you can get into for free with your pass and badge which includes
THE BBC AND CBBC TOUR.

This is what they gave me.

This post is to tell you ...

Stange objects

On Sunday 26th April 2009 Mr.Clark found a strange plastic bag on the middle of our playing field.

Some of the adults have had a strange rash appearing on their body as you can see on this picture.

...but later on in the Assembly Mr.Clowes told us that it was all a joke.

Teacher's Red Spots

Suspicious bags have been found on the school grounds . Some teachers have touched these strange objects and have grown horrible spots. This has lead to screaming children worried teachers and more. The real story behind all this was that .The teachers wanted us to write!!!!!!!!! What was the point of that???

Mysterious Objects Appeared At St.Gregorys

Year 4

St. Gregorys care taker found a mysterious bag in the middle of the playing field the bag with no foot prints around it.

The Crazy Bag

Year 5

Yesterday 26th april our caretaker Mr Clark found a bag with strange items in it and this picture is the year 5 with some of the strange items.

What's Going On ?

During the weekend, while we were having fun,a plastic bag of strange items appeared as if out of the blue in the middle of the playing field!

Mr Clowes could not resist and went to see what was inside! (not such a great idea as it ends in, well, not tears - but very itchy spots!)

Mr C got in a muddle with the bag and carried it out as carefully and quickly as he could.

Who Did It?

Strange artifacts have been found in St.Gregory's. Many other schools have also expierienced these strange sightings!

Mr.Clark found several bags in the middle of our field. They contained items which could be found in a house.

These items are contagous and can cause red spots in adults.

We have had a fax from both the police, and Jill Broughton.

If you have any information on these events, please tell the police.

Edit:  it was all a joke!!... and a great excuse for some brilliant literacy work in all of our year groups. Look out for the photos!
